The invisible woman.
You’ve spent your life being told who you are. People perceive you as nice, low-maintenance, and easygoing.
But whenever you ask for something, even something small, the labels change. Suddenly you’re controlling, bossy, and trying to make people feel bad.
As you’ve gotten older, the labels have continued. Now you’re a wife, a mother, an always smiling support for anyone and everyone who needs you.
Inside, though, you feel empty.
Needing to change, but too scared to try.
You tend to brush off compliments, feeling deep down like no one really knows you, but if they did, they wouldn’t like you.
You feel like you’re hiding a dark secret, but not even you know what it is. However, you do know that your people-pleasing is beginning to take a toll.
You feel like you can’t say no. After all, if you aren’t useful, who would love you? Something needs to change, but you can’t imagine how.
The first step is awareness.
Many of us have had our identities squashed for other people’s comfort.
Abusers find it inconvenient to be around people with even the most basic needs, so they bully, and threaten, and scare us into compliance.
By working with me, you’ll begin to recognize the manipulations used to keep you complacent.
You’ll also begin to realize and harness your own power.
During sessions, we’ll consider what unspoken rules you’re still operating under. We’ll practice interventions that place you firmly in the driver’s seat of your life.
And you’ll finally be able to answer the question, “Who are you when no one else is around?”
Finally, some relief.
You’ll find that when you know and understand yourself, you’ll become better at setting and maintaining boundaries.
You may feel lonely at first, as you let toxic people go. Soon, you’ll replace them with new friends and a chosen family that reciprocate your care, and really see you.
